We introduce novel types of self-trapped extended optical structures, which can be generated in both self-focusing and self-defocusing nonlinear media in the form of two-dimensional vortex lattices. We discuss a link of these novel objects with other types of spatially local-ised self-trapped states, such as vortex solitons and ring-shaped rotating clusters of solitons.

Keywords: optical vortex; soliton cluster; self-trapped periodic wave
