ABSTRACT

This study investigates optical soliton dynamics governed by a third-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) in which the chromatic dispersion term is neglected, a regime that has recently attracted significant attention in nonlinear optics. Both the Kerr and power-law nonlinear forms of the NLSE are considered to model pure-cubic optical nonlinearity under the influence of perturbative effects. Analytical solutions are constructed using the new Kudryashov method, the unified Riccati equation expansion method, and the sub-version of the auxiliary equation expansion method. The applied methods enable the efficient derivation of fundamental localized wave structures, namely bright and dark optical solitons, which play a central role in nonlinear wave propagation in optical media. In addition, a detailed parametric analysis examines how key physical parameters affect the amplitude, shape, and propagation characteristics of the obtained soliton solutions. The results highlight the model's ability to support diverse nonlinear optical regimes and provide further insight into soliton behavior in dispersionless or weakly dispersive media

Keywords: third-order NLSE, Hamiltonian perturbation, dark and bright soliton
