Luminescent spectral-kinetic parameters of LaCl3:Ce crystals with different activator concentration are studied under both optical and pulse X-ray excitation. The mechanism of Ce3+ centre luminescence at high-energy excitation is discussed. Possible schemes for the Ce3+ ion excitation process are suggested.
